Sherman S. Stilwell, a well known and popular young school teacher of Brown Township, died this morning at the home of his father, JM Stilwell, west of New market. Typhoid fever was the destroying disease and its victim, in this instance was a most excellent and promising young man. He has been prominent in county educational circles for several years and last summer taught penmanship at the summer normal in this city - kbz

The whole community was sadly shocked on Friday morning by Intelligence of the death of Sherman Stilwell who died at his father's home in Brown Township of typhoid fever. Sherman Stilwell was a bright young man of superior education. By profession he was a teacher. He taught penmanship in the summer norman this year held in the college buildings. He was about 28 years old and unmarried. He was a member of New Market Lodge K of P. His death is deplored by all who knew him. The funeral was on Saturday at 2 o'clock at Freedom Church.

Several years ago the daughter of Jere Stilwell of Bornw Township received injuries from which she was an invalid for years. Finally she revived and apparently was a healthful woman again. The sudden death of Sherman Stilwell, her dearly beloved brother, on Friday was such a terrible blow that she has again been attacked by spinal disease and is in a critical condition. Truly it is a stricken family.

Sherman S. Stilwell, aged twenty nine years, died of typhoid fever last Friday about 4 o’clock at the home of his father, J. M. Stilwell, near New Market. The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Interment was at the Freedom Church Cemetery.

S. S. Stilwell was one of the best known and most popular school teachers of Montgomery County and for two years had taught penmanship at the county summer normal here. His school work this year was at Dowden school house, but owing to his illness he never began the term. He had been a teacher for nine years, six of which were spent in this county.  He was a member of the K. of P. Lodge of Ladoga and was an excellent and promising young man whose death is greatly to be deplored. – s
